Our Mission
Behind every virtual meetup, build challenge, and convention booth is a small, dedicated group of volunteers who believe in the power of community. GayFOLs is an official 501(c)(3) non-profit, but at our core, we are an entirely volunteer-run passion project. Our leadership team works behind the scenes to keep our digital spaces safe, collaborate directly with the brand, and support queer visibility out in the wild.
Our mission is simple: to create safe, inclusive, and genuinely welcoming spaces for LGBTQIA+ fans of the hobby worldwide. We back that up through virtual monthly meetups, creative building challenges, and dedicated safe-space programming at conventions and trade shows across the globe.
We believe that building an international community means building a space where absolutely everyone belongs. GayFOLs is explicitly open to and welcoming of individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, or genetic information. We firmly believe that Black Lives Matter, we support the #MeToo Movement, we condemn racism, sexism, fascism, and transphobia, and we believe that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights.
We pledge to see, honor, and celebrate each other’s differences. For us, this is about taking the time to learn about the world outside of our own, recognizing that the experiences of others are valid and real.
Say hello to the crew making it all happen!
